More Filming

Image
After reviewing the footage taken in the last filming session, we decided that the story and filming were not that great. Instead, I decided that I was going to re-shoot some scenes and make some new ones. I first started off with discussing some plans with the story and decided that we would have a flashback to an emergency broadcast, then have the actor wake up to an alarm clock a couple weeks after living in the apocalypse. I filmed Monzur and Juan sitting on a couch watching TV and talking when all of a sudden an emergence broadcast pops up on the screen. Next, I filmed a close-up shot of Monzur's eyes of him sleeping, had an alarm clock go off, him jolt his eyes open then shut off the alarm clock. Then I had an over the shoulder shot of Monzur writing in a diary of his life in the apocalypse. I filmed him walking over to his closet where he is keeping his food rations in the apocalypse and show that the supplies are running low. Next, I filmed him packing a backpack to go on a

Film Time!

Image
I am now back from Spring Break and have time to film. As I mentioned in my last blog, I thought I would have time with my group to film after break was over and I did. I was able to film with my group today. I met up with them at Juan's house because we figured that there were some good empty streets around him. He also has a park next to his house that people rarely go to. Because no one really goes to that park, we could get a time when there isn't anyone there, which would be perfect for our film. In the film, we want to go for a deserted world and the park without anyone there would be perfect. So, we all met at Juan's house and started filming. I was able to film through a good little bit of the film. I started off with filming the low angle of the bed and pedestal up to Monzur, who was laying in the bed. I had to reshoot this scene a couple times because Monzur would be laughing on the bed and then I would start laughing as well. Next, I filmed the alarm clock. I had

Plans Canceled Again

Today is March 17. Today, I was supposed to meet with my group to film for our final task. I had set up with them that we would meet and film today a while back, but some problems arose and we had to rearrange our filming dates. I thought everyone was free, but some members had last minute plans arise. Monzur, the actor in the film, ended up having a family trip get planned and he left today. This is the day before Spring Break, so I understand that he would have a family trip. It makes sense that he would leave today too, because his family wanted to get an early start on their vacation. It probably wasn't a good idea to schedule to film the day before Spring Break actually started because problems such as this could and did happen. Another issue that could come, being Spring Break, is that the streets could be busier, making it harder to film our "deserted street" scene. As it's Spring Break, people want to go out and travel, such as Monzur and his family, therefore

Change to the Film

Image
Today is March 14, 2022. I had a change of plans last blog that cost us a day of filming. On that day, instead of filming, we film reviewed. I went over things about our storyboard and script. One major part we decided to change was the part where Merlin has a brother. By removing the identity of the person who knocks on the door, it then makes the film more ominous. The reason to make it such way was simple. The main story and vision I had of the film was meant to be mysterious, suspenseful, and thrilling. When not knowing who the knock came from or what it is, the character has to be jumpy and have their heart racing. This adds variety to the story because if this was an actual short movie, people would create their own theories. Another reason as to why it was removed was because it was not supposed to originally be in the story blog and was a mistake. Having this part removed also lets the actors just focus on their part and have designated parts instead of everyone trying to fill

Plan Cancelled

We originally planned to get together today and film. Unfortunately, it rained and we decided that it would be best just to schedule to meet for a different day. Since it was raining, we wouldn't be able to film any scenes outside. I play water polo as my main sport, and games earlier in my season have gotten cancelled. They needed to be rescheduled and one of them was rescheduled to today. I didn't realize this, so that was another conflict for meeting to film. Instead, I got together over at Monzur's house with my group and discussed what we should do. I reviewed our storyboard with the group, to see if there was anything we need to touch up on. A couple of issues arrized with it. For example, near the end of our storyboard, our kid hears a knock on the door and when he opens it, it is his brother. It is his brother at last and I don't think that this part should be in the film where he meets his brother. The film might be long enough without that part, but it is good

Nightmare Production

Image
My film, Nightmare, takes place in a post apocalyptic era. A boy wakes up to a world where nothing is just quite right and everything is a nightmare. The setting is eerie and suspenseful, so I decided to go for a theme that is considered gloomy. I am not talented enough, nor are my group mates to make our own music for the movie scene, so I decided to look at movies or TV shows that already have sound tracks for something like ours. One TV show that is very popular with the genre I have is The Walking Dead. This TV show has something special that has helped contribute to why it has such a long run time. The different soundtracks for different scenes are perfect for my movie. I emailed the composer Bear McCreary a while back, but I still haven't gotten a response from him. Although I have not heard back from him, I still have other options for music that is copyright free. I looked at other movies theme songs, such as the one from 28 Days Later. I have found that the use of great di
