Reflecting on Music Video

How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My product uses conventions as in rap type music videos, there is not really a story; there are just different scenes of dancing, clubs, and whatever other random clips the producers decide to throw into it. This represents a more "ghetto" social group since it is a rap song. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?   My product engages with the audience by staying upbeat in the music video. This is key because if you don't put in the energy to a song that is upbeat, you wont be able to get the audience to feel the energy either. So, I stayed upbeat and tried to keep the energy of the music in the video. This would be distributed as a real media text through social media sites and video streaming apps, such as YouTube. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?   My production skills were greatl

Finishing editing and the outcome

Now that we had about half of the editing done we rewatched it a lot of times. We liked all the footage but we wanted this first thirty seconds to be as great as it could be. After all the digging we did, we knew all the right clips for that 30 second part of the song. But before we moved on we just wanted to see if any last-minute changes were in order. Finally, when there wasn't we decided to move on. Most of the work had to be in lining up the lip-syncing in the videos with the audio from the song. There was a lot that had to be slowed down in order to fit. But in fact, there were even some parts where people in the group lip-synced too slow and those parts had to be sped up. For this last day of editing, we only had to last major problems. The first was clips accidentally being deleted when we were trying to listen for the next part of the song. It became really annoying to keep re-editing the only clips and putting them back in the right place. We came up with the idea to hav

Starting the editing process

This is the start of the editing process. When we started this project we all decided together that it would be in our best interest to let Monzur be the man in charge of physically editing it. He had a lot of prior knowledge about editing apps and how to sink things together well. Knowing all of this we all came to the unanimous decision that with him taking lead it would come out the best. The last day of filming happened and we all were sending the videos that we had taken on our phones to each other to see what parts we would most want to use. I have a Samsung phone, and all of my group members have iPhones. So when sending the videos we had taken on my phone there was an obvious change in the quality and it became very pixilated and blurry making the footage unusable. This is when we had to start brainstorming what we wanted to do. We had tons of footage and but the best footage and shots we had been in the video on my phone. After doing some research we found that if we all uplo

Filming at Park & Baseball Field

My group and I met up again on 12/7/21 to continue filming. The last thing we filmed was Fahim acting like he was using a steering wheel. Next we got Juan to jump out of a tree and do a parkour roll so he wouldn't hurt himself. Next I was in a couple scenes that went with the lyrics of the song. I had Fahim and Juan lip singing as well to the next verse. By this time, it was getting dark out, so we decided to pack up and end filming for the day. This time, on 12/7, we were filming near Juan's house at a baseball field. Monzur had something after-school, so we met a little later in the day around the time the sun was setting, so we had about 45 minutes to film. I didn't know what to film, but I saw a bench in the field with nice sunset lighting. I had Monzur and Fahim go sit on it with their arms on each other's shoulders while swaying back and forth. After that we kind of got distracted and started doing flips in the field. I first started off by doing a front flip on t

Filming at the Park

On December 5th, my group and I were all available to film our music video. I had tried to get a date we were all available earlier than that, such as on December 1st, but my parents were away at the time. Also, the location we were filming at was on my street and at the park down the street from me. Since my parents weren't home, they didn't allow us to film that day. The rest of my group had different things to do all the other days, so the 5th was the day we could film. I got the boys to meet up at my house and we started to film. We first started out by listening to our song a couple times so we could get in the right mindset. I then had an idea where I could do a cool POV shot of riding my skateboard and have me ride by the camera as a couple short shots. At the beginning of the song, the rapper repeats the same verse twice, so I recorded 2 of my groupmates saying that line so we could put it together to go with the song. Then I got my dad to record us walking down the mid
