Film Review

I showed my video to one of my friends in A level AICE Media Studies. He looked over it a couple times to critique it. He said what we have so far is good. What we were missing though is the music to accompany the film. He said when we enter the music, it would add that sense of realism and add to the theme of being a thriller. He likes how in the film it is like other post-apocalyptic movies and gives the sense of a thriller. One scene he said is a little messy, the scene where the main actor gets attacked by a zombie from around the corner. He gave some feedback on how we can better this scene, being that we could have multiple camera angles of this attack and edit them together so it would capture the scene smoother. This could be another camera on the other side of the action so there could be multiple viewpoints. Other than that, he told me that music would help bring it all together and it looks good to him.

End Scene Film

Today, October 7, I went out to the baseball field with my partner again. This time, I was there to redo one scene. I was also there to shoot the end scene of my partner walking away with the bat on his shoulder. In the classroom, before I left to record, I got tape and re-taped a stick that I made for filming. It's a piece of wood with a GoPro mount on the end. I had to redo the tape so the mount wouldn't fall off. Today was a PSD day, so I only had about 30 minutes to record those scenes. I went to the dugout and put the same clothes I wore last production day. My partner had his clothes folded, ready to go, on his bed, but his mom took them and put them in the wash, so he didn't have them. This meant that I had to be the one in the end scene. I figured it wouldn't make sense if I were the one stepping up to the plate in the scene we had to redo, so we are just going to keep that already shot scene in.  Hi, my name is Keith and I chose this class because I have had many friends take it and I've heard great things about it. They were raving on how fun it is creating films and learning how to do different tricks in their filming. I also need a couple more Cambridge credits to get my diploma, so I thought I would try this out because of this class's great reviews. I expect to learn how to edit my videos to do all sorts of cool things such as cross cutting, shot/reverse shot, jump cuts, and many more interesting techniques. My goals are to be able to learn these techniques and create some really cool pieces of work. I want to keep these skills with me when I'm older because I think it is useful to know how to film. Begin Editing

 My partner and I filmed for 2 class periods, but the second day was cut short because of a PSD. After I finished filming, I went home and uploaded the files to my computer. In an earlier blog, I stated that I didn't take that many shots, but there were about 150 files. I did not realize I took that many videos. It took quite a while to download all of those files, but luckily they were small, so it wouldn't take me too long to sift through. I put all of the clips on Adobe Premier. The editing process was very tedious. I was having to delete many of those 150 clips and merge them. My partner and I had previously went through audio clips to find the right song to overlay in the video. I found one and put it in the commercial. I also had to find the transitions that fit best with our vision and to make it look sporty and clean. So, the first night I edited, I put the best of the clips together and it was not that pretty.
